The Fall Frolic

The Fall Frolic is THE primary annual fund raising dance sponsored by the Friends. It is a time of annual membership renewal, an opportunity for generous donations and a grand, day long dance. The first Fall Frolic in 1996 was a wild success and made the front page of the Sunday Boston Globe. We were held up as a band of dancers and musicians rallying to save a great hall from demise and redirected use of the first registered grange in the state of Massachusetts.

Each year the income we raise helps us to both support dance and music events and help the grange membership maintain a great dance hall! So come out and support us especially on this occasion.

Special Dances

During the year the Friends sponors various dances. Some are dedicated for beginners' such as a wonderful special dances that David Kaynor does. Others are geared toward skill development with flair as in our great Style Dances with Lisa Greenleaf. Some are straight out for experienced dancers only as an opportunity to be challenged with no walk throughs and complex dances. We are exploring other possiblities as well. Workshops

The Friends is supporting a workshop series by board member, Allison Bell, which will be repeated this coming winter. This workshop is rooted in movement and is not specifically a contradance style workshop; although lessons learned in this series can help develop the richness of one's understanding not only contradancing but of any body movement. We are working on scheduling a couple workshops on clogging with Eugene Lawrence. Stay tuned for these.

The Spring Cleaning Day

Each year on the first or second Saturday in May we start work at 10 AM and work until mid afternoon and eat pizza supplied by the Friends. It is a great time to get to know the names of other dancers and work together to dust off the hall and get it ready for another year of dancing.
